Why Kate Middleton was not wearing her wedding ring in doctored photos

Qhe drama surroundingKate Middleton‘s edited photo left royal fans with more questions than answers after she admitted she made small edits to her Mother’s Day photo.

The Princess of Wales, 42, posed with her three children laughing and smiling to mark Mother’s Day in her first appearance since undergoing abdominal surgery in January.

In the photo, Kateis comfortably dressed in a sweater, jeans, lace-up boots and a jacket as she posed with her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

But eagle-eyed royal fans immediately noticed how the picture had been poorly edited, sparking concern nationwide as picture agencies issued a ‘kill notice’ to stop it being published.

In addition to this, it was easy to notice Kate was not wearing her engagement ring or wedding ring in the photo, leaving fans to speculate over why she had decided not to put them on.

British outlet Town and Country stated that Kensington Palace did not respond to a request for comment on the matter, which only increased the feeling of intrigue.

It’s not unusual for the Princess to forgo her engagement ring, an heirloom that once belonged to her William‘s late mother, Princess Dianawho died in 1997. Kate has been seen without it during active appearances, as was the case when she attended a sailing race with team Great Britain in 2022.

What’s more, her husband, Prince Williamwas conspicuous by his absence from the photo given that the family of five are usually seen together.

An apology and a possible explanation

The report added that it was more likely that she removed her gold wedding band before surgery, as the procedure could result in swelling. Kate has been recovering at home since then and has not been performing her royal duties, as she was signed off until after Easter at the earliest.

And as it turns out, the Prince of Wales was behind the camera lens and took the picture, so there is no need to panic just yet for fans who might have thought the childhood sweethearts were heading for trouble in their marriage.

On Monday, Kate issued an apology for the confusion and said as an “amateur photographer”, he decided to make “minor adjustments” to the photo.
